CASE STUDY 3
LAND & ESTATE MANAGEMENT
Introducing modern management and additional income streams to an ancient estate in Dorset.
Overview
We were invited by the trustees of this Dorset Estate to design and execute a plan to introduce and establish its formal management.
OUR ROLE
We undertook a full review of the various formal and informal relationships on the estate, as well as an audit of compliance to residential lettings standards. A revaluation for insurance purposes was then combined with the production of a pre-planned maintenance programme with budget. The team deftly negotiated the documentation of the informal arrangements and with the resulting comprehensive portfolio records, introduced an integrated terrier book-keeping system and budget.Â
We also identified a potential development site and gravel pit to bolster income streams as well as recommended investment in certain buildings that could be utilised for a variety of commercial uses. We introduced a Countryside Stewardship Scheme over the woodlands to bring them back into full and proper environmental condition, enabling them to be used as a useful source of future timber production.
